There is nothing new or groovy about Fishtales, a sprawling split-level cafe and takeaway joint on Warrnambool's main drag. But it does good fish and chips. I was on the rebound, still smarting from my last encounter of overcooked, virtually inedible grilled fish and soggy chips at a new and groovy fish cafe in Melbourne. Grilling is a good test of a fish cook's skills and Fishtales over-delivered, sending out a sizeable, juicy, well-seasoned and herbed piece of flake on a pile of thick chips.
